NEED TO KNOW OBJECTS
EXIT and SAIL - Do not use.
TEST DOOR - YOU MUST PLACE THIS! This is where Grudge will start when you test.
WHITE ARROWS - Super Important. These are basic DOORS that go in and out of an area. You can only place ONE OF EACH. Exiting to the LEFT will take you to the ZONE to the LEFT, and place you at the RIGHT arrow, so you must have BOTH for it to work.
RED ARROWS - Complex RED DOORS that take you to entirely new AREAS. Not recommended. If you need TWO EXITS for a ZONE, we can discuss how they work.
TREASURE CHESTS - Please ask before placing these. If you are doing a LINEAR area, you can place a lot.
2 HOLE - Like a RED ARROW. It's tricky to use. Not recommended. Can discuss.
WHITE HEARTS, WHITE GEMS, DUCKIES, GOLD ROCK - Do not use unless approved.

TRASH - Please use 5 of these per ZONE. They are random items that may/may not appear. You do not have to use them, but if you do, use a total of 5.

BLUE PORTAL PAD - This will change to "START" in gameplay. Place it where Grudge will start his adventure.
BLACK / WHITE CHECKERPAD (FINISH) - This will end the area and the orders.
OTHER FUN OBJECTS
YELLOW TRIGGERS - These are next to the Number Pads on the menu. They turn off all locked doors. Great for when you are making MAZE areas.
TELEPORTERS - RED, BLUE, and GREEN must have 2. PURPLE only has one and will take you back to TEST DOOR.
CONVEYORS - Use freely.
DOUBLE ARROWS (LAUNCHERS) - Do not use the UP/DOWN ones. They do not work.
TRACKS AND CARTS - Complex as hell. Not recommended.
ENEMY TRAPS - When the player hits the PINK X, enemies in the PINK SQUARES appear.
BLACK BLOCKS - When the player hits the RED SQUARE, the BLACK BLOCKS appear. They NEVER disappear.
WATER - Use the edges of the water. Fill with the biggest blocks of water you can. Each ZONE can only have one type of water. We can discuss how to activate each type.
MULTIPLYERS - Use only in LINEAR AREAS. Will boost points earned.
BEFORE YOU START
It is recommended that you map your AREA out on graph paper at least. Decide where all your DOORS are going to be and how the player will finish. Please use around 8-15 Zones max. Don't go crazy (unless you want to...). Please try to center your Area in the middle as best you can.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The more OBJECTS you place in a ZONE, the slower the game will be. It does not matter the size of the object. Enemies, coins, walls, water, etc., they are all considered the same. Use bigger walls / water where you can.
STEP BY STEP
  1. Log in using your assigned dev name.
  2. Use the BASIC ZONE tool to map out your area. Place the GOAL ZONE at the end. It is not necessary to label the START. Try to center your area as best as you can, but nobody's perfect.
  3. Use the OPEN ZONE to open your first Zone. ZONE DATA will pop up by default.
  4. In ZONE DATA, concern yourself first with HEIGHT and WIDTH. This cannot be changed later. Please make sure your measurements add up to no more than 1100 SQUARES. Also, try to use ODD numbers so you can have a CENTER. 31x31 is a very good standard. Other great options are 45x21 / 21x45, 15x65 / 65x15, or really anything you want as long as it is less than 1100 squares. If you want a small spot, it can also be like 15x15. Whatever you want.
  5. In ZONE DATA, also pick your SHADE TYPE. There is no active list, but 1 = outdoors, 2 = cave, 3 = lava cave, and 4 = indoors, but fully illuminated. There are others, but stick to these 4.
  6. The rest is not that important and can be changed at any time. The only one that CANNOT be changed later is WIDTH/HEIGHT.
  7. Click UPDATE. You level will be redrawn.
  8. Hold SPACE and use the Mouse to move the ZONE. Zoom buttons below.
  9. Place your DOORS and TEST DOOR and start building your ZONE. Try things out.
  10. Click TEST to test your zone. Your ZONE is SAVED automatically.
  11. Click EXIT TEST to go back to editing. Repeat as necessary. You can move the TEST DOOR anywhere you need it to be at any time.
  12. Click EXIT to return to the AREA MAP to make other ZONES.
  13. Repeat Steps 4-12 until your entire AREA is done! If approved, you'll get a neat little SIGN POST at the start of the AREA telling others who made it ... and probably like 1000 Gnit. Your AREA will then be cut out of your account and you can go again!
NOTES FOR LINEAR AREAS
LINEAR AREAS are only accessable via portals. They are not added to the world map.
  • The Goal of LINEAR AREAS is just a simple A -> B. Keep that in mind.
  • You can place GNIT, STATUS ITEMS, and use TREASURE CHESTS more freely.
  • You can ONLY PLACE TWO DOORS - The entrance and the edit to each ZONE.
  • You can place BROWN COINS. Don't use too many. They can slow the game down.
  • Try not to use KEYS or SWITCHES unless the puzzle can be solved within the ZONE itself. Don't expect the player to find the GREEN KEY and then take it three ZONES ahead. (Unless you're just locking up prizes and not the actual path ahead. It's totally okay to lock up optional prizes.)
NOTES FOR MAZE AREAS
If you want to try your hand at a MAZE AREA, there is a slight chance that your AREA could be added to the world map. If you want this to happen, it is recommended that you create your AREA with an Underground, Castle, or some kind of Dungeon theme. Snow Areas, Deserts, and Forests will not likely be approved to be added (unless they are really really good and there is a spot on the map for them to take).
  • The Goal of MAZE AREA is just to get to the FINISH. Players can explore freely.
  • Because players can explore freely, DO NOT USE GNIT, STATUS ITEMS, or TREASURE CHESTS (unless approved).
  • You can place all four doors and exits.
  • You can use KEYS, SWITCHES, and other items to create puzzles.
  • DO NOT USE BROWN COINS or MULTIPLYERS.
  • You can use POWER UPS, but not too much. They reset when the player returns to the Zone.
